Creative Camaraderie

by Kathy Ruff

Today’s the day after the first annual Write it Right writers’ conference hosted by the Black Diamond Writers’ Network.  Months of planning finally came to fruition as over 50 people enjoyed a number of classroom sessions on writing and publishing.

It’s amazing how the creativity of a number of people who enjoy writing — people who would never otherwise cross paths — unites to create a synergistic energy and camaraderie between relative strangers.  People who attended were writers, nurses, leadership professionals, grandmas, teachers, students, factory workers, unemployed — the list goes on and on.  While each had their own backgrounds and goals, the creative juices generated by writing formed a common bond.

Writing usually is a solitary vocation.  So the feelings generated when you realize you are not alone, that others share your passion, somehow comforts and inspires you.

What creative outlets inspire you?  Are you pursuing them?
