Mirror Images

Nature has a beautiful way of showing the depth of its beauty. This early-morning trip to the lake displayed the serene waters of a windless daybreak.

The still waters create a mirror image of the wooded mountain that surrounds the northern side of the lake.

I wonder what the image of the mirror of our lives would reflect if we could take a snapshot. On this morning bike ride, I’m sure my image would be nearly as clear, calm and peaceful as this picture portrays.
But I know under those calm waters, a bustling natural life exists. I wonder what our image would portray as we meander through the rest of our day when the day’s responsibilities and realities emerge. Would it be peaceful and clear? Or would it be clouded, foggy and blurry? Would the waters be choppy with white caps or simply have a small undercurrent disturbing the surface calm? I guess it all depends on what attitudes and feelings we carry with us throughout the day. We have the choice.

What would your mirror image show?
