I took a long weekend off (Thursday through Monday) and I ran away from the concrete jungle to my sister’s sanctuary in Tioga Township, Pennsylvania (about 3 1/2 hours’ northwest).
On the way back from our bike ride in Lamb’s Creek Recreational area in the Mansfield area, I caught this heron (?)on the remnants of a downed tree — one of many critters we saw on the ride.
It felt so good to get out early in the morning and feel the natural energies of an area similar to my normal bike route but yet so different. Tioga County is really so much more remote and undeveloped, rich with wildlife, farmland and nature.
I think everyone should regularly take some time away to spend in nature — doing nothing but absorbing everything. Am I too naive to think maybe we could infuse the people of the world with a natural, peaceful perspective that might radiate to the rest of their lives?
