Nature’s Promise

by Kathy Ruff

It seems odd for a Christmas cactus to be blooming in February, but that’s exactly what is happening with my one plant.
The bud to the right holds promise for a vibrant-colored bloom to come. It’s timing may be off, but the promise remains.
Punxsutawney Phil predicted an early spring, a promise some still hope will come true — even with 8″ of new snow today.
To me, nature always seems to hold promise for good — for colorful flowers to massage the eyes, fresh clean snow to water the earth and longer daylight hours to bring warmer weather. I guess I just choose to see the positive.

What promises do you see?
