The Burdens We Carry

by Kathy Ruff

Mother Nature shared her beauty with me this afternoon at Boat Launch A as a little blue sky and the sun peaked out from behind the clouds.

The trees, heavy with wet new snow, seem to be aware this may well be one of winter’s last blasts…at least that’s what we all hope!

Even though the calendar says it’s spring, winter wants to hang on a little longer.

Aren’t we like that, too? Sometimes we hold onto things, people, the past a little longer than we need to and, like the limbs on these trees, we get weighed down by carrying that burden a little too long. I guess the most important part of the lessons life teaches us is to see the beauty that surrounds us and the hope for a better tomorrow, despite our errors in judgment.
