360-Degree View

Bunnies on the Switchback Trail

Did you know that rabbits have the ability to see nearly 360 degrees?  That special gift allows them to see predators coming from almost any angle…oddly enough, except for a blind spot in front of their noses and below their chins (according to the Wisconsin House Rabbit Society).

I found these three bunnies on one of my latest walks at the watershed.  Two of the three took off as I approached, but the one on the far left side of the picture didn’t.  I walked by, giving him space, and continued on my path.  He stayed there even after I passed.

What would you do with a 360-degree view?  If you could see everything around you, would you feel safer?  Would you fear less?  I wonder.

Since I don’t have the gift of panoramic vision, I’m not going to dwell on that.  Rather, I think I’ll just look at the gifts I do have…the gift of a smile, of kindness, of a pure heart, to name a few.  Like the rabbits, I’ll try to use my gifts to make my life and the life of those around me better.

What gifts do you have that you can share?
