It Is What It Is

X marks the spot…two Xes in this case.

I took this picture of my neighbor’s house one morning as the sun came up behind — yes, behind — his house.  Curiosity made me walk in front of his house in my jammies to see if I could see where the reflections were coming from.  Despite looking around for a few minutes, I couldn’t figure it out.

To this day, I can’t figure it out but it really doesn’t bother me.  Sometimes we just have to live without knowing the answers.  It is what it is.

Religious faiths can be like that.  Each faith has its own tenets.  Some are alike; others are not.  Many of the followers live without really knowing all the answers.  No matter what our beliefs, the truth is the truth.  We can’t change it and it doesn’t change.  It’s just our perceptions and understandings change.  (Remember, at one point in time, the people believed the Earth was flat!)  As we understand more, a veil falls from our eyes and we begin to see the real truth.  Yet more than one veil may cover our eyes.

What is the truth?  Truth is something that never changes. Everything else is just an illusion, a misinterpretation, a misconception.

I may never know what caused the reflected Xes but whatever it is, it is what it is.  Next time I’m so sure something is the truth, I’ll have to admit maybe I just don’t really know.  How about you?

  1. Much is beyond our understanding. We have to learn to live with the unknown.
