Letting go…

The last Sunday of 2013 has begun.  In a few days, 2013 will be history and a New Year will begin.

We have no choice – we have to let go of 2013.  We let go of the joys, the pains, the challenges, the achievements.  We accept the loss of spring, summer and fall as winter becomes the norm, but it’s not so easy to accept the loss of a loved one, a relationship or something else we value highly.

Yet we need to let go in order to move forward.  The trees know when to let go of their leaves.  The still waters give way to ripples when the breeze stirs the calm.  The fog lets go and disappears, giving way to what must be.  Nature knows how to let go effortlessly, or so it seems to us.

As the New Year beckons, many people try to let go of the indiscretions and habits of the year before.  Today I challenge myself to let go of each day as a new one begins.  Some days may be easier than others as my mind creates limitations, but today I choose to believe letting go is a natural progression of moving forward.
