What’s your potential?

Today I took a walk from my house to the bank and grocery store.  Cabin fever beckoned me to get out, even if it was only for a 1.2 mile walk in town.

This hyacinth bud greeted me a block or so away from my house.  It may have sprouted in the middle of town and inches away from a home’s foundation, but it’s very existence shows such beautiful potential for what we in Pennsylvania have long awaited — spring!!  It pushed through the soil, despite the snow, ice and cold that continues sporadically.

I believe spring’s potential shows promise even more as I heard (and saw) so many gaggles of geese going north you couldn’t wipe the smile off my face.

The long, brutal, cold and snowy winter shows signs of releasing its grip.  Even though the calendar says it’s spring, this week’s temps say otherwise.  But evidence of potential lingers.

Like evidence of spring continues to mount, this picture of an e-mail confirmation of my Delta flight to Florida in May lays potential for me.  That potential rests with a workshop on “Writing From the Soul,” and my inspiration and motivation to finally allow myself to fulfill that call.

The potential is there…and it probably always has been.  But somehow this event seems to be the 2 x 4 that whacked me across the head saying, “Do it NOW!”

This confirmation brings a smile to my heart, knowing I’m finally listening to that inner nudging and not worrying about what others may think.  My opinions, beliefs and knowledge are uniquely mine.  Creeping age has put a bit of a spark under my butt to get up and do it.

My potential is a book, one literally decades in the making.

What’s your potential?  What will you do with it?
