Here, Then Gone

Mother Nature caressed the trees with a new coat of white.  Blue skies peek through the ominous storm clouds illuminating a unique beauty that is here then gone.

A day before, colors of mauve and brown highlighted the late-fall landscape.

What a difference a day can make!

The trees, shrubs and earth remain exactly where they were, yet they are different.

We, too, are the same yet different.  Red hair turns white and tan skin pales.  The ideas, beliefs and knowledge of a 5-, 15- and 50-year-old take a bit longer, but they, too, change.

The leaves are here, then gone.  The snow is here, then gone. Our innocence is here, then gone.  Our youth and lives are here and then gone.

Enjoy the here and now before it’s gone.
