Are you ‘Living the dream’?

I had a dream the other night every time I clicked my car key to turn off the alarm it turned on an alarm of a nearby car.  Frustration reigned.  When I’d hit the button again, it would turn off the other car’s alarm and turn mine back on.

Whether it was the frustration or the noise, at 1 a.m. I finally woke out of my slumber to the sound of a neighbor’s car alarm still blaring. What I heard in my dream was actually happening outside nearby.  I had one foot in dream-land and the other in the outside world.

Lately I’ve heard a response when someone is asked, ‘How are you?’ where they say ‘Living the dream.’  I was dreaming the life!

Sometimes I think we really are living in a dream world, one where we create illusions, fearful of what reality offers.

I look at this picture of the sky I took yesterday at sunrise…is it a dream of a pink sky?  No.  It’s a beautiful reality I took the time to see…and I was wide awake.

     Are you awake?

  1. Often my dreams are frustrating and stressful, so I'm glad to wake up to reality. Some say dreams may be symbolic of problems that you need to deal with. I try to remain awake in the reality of being a part of nature, improving what I can and adapting to the rest. I don't want to base my life on illusions or to be fearful of the truth.
