A Bird’s Eye View

by Kathy Ruff

BirdsThese birds decided to spread their wings atop a church on Sixth and North Streets in Jim Thorpe.  This Sunday morning dance inspired me.

These critters caught a bird’s eye view of the surrounding scenery by comfortably perching not only where they had the best view but also where they could catch a breeze to dry their feathers from the remnants of a rainy morning.

Imagine getting away from all the hub-bub of the activity around you and spreading your wings to blow off the stink, solidly tethered yet as close to gliding as possible.

Imagine doing it with your friends!

Imagine looking at the world below, unaffected by earthbound limitations, chaos and drama.

Imagine the freedom and beauty of a bird’s eye view. Imagine  feeling the wind blowing across your body…..ahhhhhh!

Without wings, we have to settle on views from skyscrapers, mountain tops, airplanes, and pictures from space. Our imagination can lift us above our limitations. We can free ourselves from what binds us to earthly situations.
