It’s All About Love

It’s all about love.

This passage was read at my wedding, as I’m sure it was at many others:

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.  Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.”  1 Corinthians 13:4-8

What does ‘love’ mean to you?  How do you express your love?  A kiss. A hug. A smile. Acceptance of someone else, even though they are different. Acceptance of others’ beliefs even though you disagree. Forgiveness of past ‘wrongs’. Not judging. Trust. Honesty. Tolerance. Gentleness. Joy. Defenselessness. Generosity. Patience. Faithfulness. Open-Mindedness.

In addition to the people and furry friends in my life, I love nature. I believe it teaches us a lot about love, acceptance, honesty…being what you are.  It is what it is. It accepts its changes, its cycles. It never judges. It doesn’t try to be what it is not. It flows. It is not self-seeking or angry and keeps no record of wrongs. It rejoices through its subtle melodies of wind, wildlife and water.

Imagine loving everyone and everything in the world as you love the person or thing closest to you.  Can you even imagine?

Imagine!

What other words can you share to define love?  How do you express your love?

This blog entry is dedicated to Frank Middaugh, who said, “It’s all about love.”
