My garden’s yielding tomatoes — both big and little. The peppers are all gone but I hope some other plants will produce more in the coming month or so.
That bowl contains a few ripe beefsteak tomatoes, an abundance of almost ripe grape tomatoes and a few that have split thanks to the recent rain.
Last week I stopped at a farmer’s garden store and picked up some just-picked corn on the cob — soooooo sweet!
What is it about fresh-from-the-garden produce that seems to provide a bold taste, special freshness you can’t get from the grocery store?
I think it’s because we’re in the moment…enjoying the fruits (or vegetables!) of our labors and savoring the seasonal abundance that will be gone all too soon.
Life’s like a bowl of cherries (or grape tomatoes)…sweet, fresh, vibrant. Take a bit and enjoy!
