Try Something New Lately?

by Kathy RuffRuby's First Kayak Trip

Labor Day 2015 is officially over…the summer unofficially.

So what did you do this summer?  Did you try anything new?  Did you stretch yourself a little to do something you’ve always wanted to do, but didn’t?  I did.

Thanks to Tonia, I finally tried kayaking this summer after a couple years of saying, ‘I’d like to try that.’   I maneuvered a sit-a-top first — and I did circles very well, without even trying!  🙂

Yesterday I tried a sit-in kayak.  What a difference!  THAT was what I envisioned with kayaking…peace, fluidity, enjoyment and stability.

But I’m not the only one who tried something new…Ruby did, too.  Yesterday she went on her first kayak ride.  She loved it!  From Boat Launch A to Boat Launch B she got accustomed to her new ‘legs’ so much so that she slept through part of it.  But as the morning fog disappeared and the sun quickly warmed the air, Ruby wanted to go swimming.  But she was patient and stayed in the kayak the entire two hours.  A little drink and splash of water helped.

What have you tried lately that you’ve always wanted to do?   If Ruby can do it, so can you!

Stepping out of the box seems to be good most times. I’m so glad you enjoyed the kayak yesterday and it wasn’t frustrating. Let me know when we are picking yours up.
Thanks for another beautiful day Aunt Kathy!!
