Saturday’s weather called for rain in the afternoon, so I took advantage of the sunny morning to get in my first Artist’s Date in nearly two months. (Yes, I blew that New Year’s Resolution a while ago!)
I hit the Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor by 7 a.m., riding my mountain bike for the first time this year. It was beautiful, reinvigorating and uplifting!
Isn’t it crazy how we allow the demands of work and others to supersede our own need to refresh our spirits, renew our minds and exercise our bodies?
I was pleasantly rewarded by the hour-long excursion. The trail was in tip-top shape and rode a little over five miles round trip. Geese, ducks, chipmunks, squirrels and birds greeted me along the trail. A few fishermen got an early start, too.
The trip ended all to early, but I returned to my house to cut the grass before the rain came with a smile on my face, a spring in my step and a renewed outlook in my mind. It always amazes the power an Artist’s Date has!
I’m looking forward to many more outings to enjoy. How about you? What do you do to renew your spirit?
